The Paspaley Pearl Story

In the remote and pristine waters of northern Australia, an incredible partnership between man and nature has created the world’s most beautiful cultured pearls.

Coveted by royalty, captivating on fashion catwalks, South Sea cultured pearls are desired like no other!

Sorting & Grading

Each Paspaley South Sea cultured pearl is individually sorted to Paspaley’s unique grading and classification system, ensuring a supply of consistent quality to our customers. The time invested in this meticulous process forms the basis of the “pearl matrix” which enables you to select exactly the pearls you require.

Diving Operations

As they have done for centuries, divers still face the dangers of the depths to gather the wild shells. Today, Paspaley divers are strictly monitored under Australia’s sustainable resource management system. “Quotas” are strictly imposed by government authorities limiting the number of shells which can be taken from the wild shell beds – each shell in essence receiving its own license. Paspaley is committed to never over-exploiting these natural resources to avoid depletion of natural stocks as has happened in areas of Japan and Tahiti.

Seeding Operations

The unique skills of Paspaley’s technical team have a direct impact on the pearls produced, as planting the nucleus is a highly complex operation. The size of the nuclei implanted is strictly controlled to ensure that the pearls will grow with thick layers of the lustrous mother of pearl nacre. Today’s results are a testament to the decades of research and experience gained by Paspaley’s South Sea pearl technicians and their commitment to perfection.

Teams of dedicated pearl farmers nurture each shell throughout their entire lifecycle at the farms, located in some of the most remote regions of northern Australia. Intense tropical wet seasons, searing summer heat and cyclones are just some of the extreme conditions that must be endured… not to mention salt-water crocodiles, sharks and a range of marine stingers.

Harvest

A fine Paspaley South Sea cultured pearl is the culmination of many years of intensive work. The largest Paspaley pearls have been nurtured for at least six years until their harvest.

The Pearl Guarantee

All Paspaley South Sea cultured pearls are guaranteed to be of natural color and luster.

The Paspaley South Sea cultured pearls described here were farmed and harvested by the Paspaley Pearling Company. They are authentic Paspaley South Sea cultured pearls. The pearls have remained in our care at all times until their sale.

We certify that these pearls have been delivered to you with their NATURAL COLOR AND LUSTER. That luster has been protected in the traditional way, by individually hand polishing the natural surface of each pearl.

These pearls have not been treated in any way with chemicals or other artificial enhancements, which could cause their natural color or luster to diminish over time.

As with all Paspaley pearls, these pearls have been produced in accordance with Paspaley’s ongoing commitment to environmental protection and conservation.
